Hello, Mutiger.
First of all, we see that you have been a customer since 2010, and thank you.
The stated shelf life of UMAi DrybagSteak material is three years. The bags may begin to yellow if in prolonged contact with sunlight, but are still safe for use. They may also grow cloudy and may get ever so slightly harder to seal if exposed to humidity–which is why we now provide them to you in resealable packaging. The bottom line is that UMAi Dry is plastic, inorganic and will last a long, long, long time. There is no danger in using material that has either become cloudy or slightly amber in color.
If you are describing discoloration of material that we have sent just recently, that is a complete mystery because we only sell material that has been produced within the past three to six months and is not exposed to sunlight at any point until you unveil it in your own home.
We appreciate the opportunity to look into this and would be happy to replace your material if you would send us back what you have for inspection.
We appreciate your participation in the Forum and this excellent question you have posed.
