The sealing function on these sealers is triggered by a vacuum pressure sensor when the vacuum gets to a certain point. Sometimes if the lid has a little gap allowing the air to continue to be drawn from the outside (not from the inside the bag), the sealer will continue to draw air not triggering the sealing function. This can happen because the VacMouse is a bit thicker than the rest of the bag.
In such case you did the right thing by turning the sealing function manually.
