If you live anywhere near us, it stays below freezing here for most of 5 months and aging meat in a fridge in the garage is not recommended (unless 1. your garage is heated to above 50F and 2. you have a full size modern frost free fridge in there). Most people keep a small beer fridge in the garage, which is not good for dry aging, since most of them do not have any air circulation.
If the garage temp is below freezing or even 40F or so, the fridge does not function as a fridge, since it doesn’t have to engage the cooling cycle (i.e. temp outside is colder than inside). It becomes just an airtight box, which isn’t any good for dry aging beef.
