Why would you thaw a steak on the counter top before placing it in the refrigerator? Is it just for speed or is there any science behind the technique. I thaw my steaks in the fridge. It usually takes about 24 hrs and then I take them out about 2-3 hrs before I cook them.
nothing scientific – just a habit I got into when I was a working stiff and I’d get meat out for the next evening when I got home and leave it on the counter until bedtime! Whether it was chicken, hamburger or steak I followed the same pattern and never had a problem!
