I don’t know of any units that do vac only.
If it is a sporadic problem. Check to make sure the sealer bar is cool before you put the bag in. If it is warm enough it will soften the ridges in the bag, or Vacmouse, enough to collapse the ridges preventing the air from being sucked out.

If it does not work at all, then it is time for a new unit. These units do wear out.
