There really shouldn’t be a strong smell coming from the aging meat unless your fridge lacks air circulation. The meat is most likely OK, but you should check the fridge to make sure the moisture is not accumulating in there. Like if it is sitting in a warm humid garage, it may have trouble getting rid of the moisture. The ribeye can loose more than a gallon of water over two weeks. That water has to go somewhere and in home fridges it gets condensed on the coils and evaporated through a fan circulating air.
