I believe, too, there is a certain amount of surface tension on the UMAi bags that draws the openings together and prevents extraction of the air from the bags without a Vac Mouse. The Vac Mouse material separates the plastic surfaces to ensure air extraction. Perhaps that accounts for the difficulty in separating the bag opening surfaces. It can really be a bear on sausage casings! B)
I use some Food Saver compatible bags that are totally smooth, inside and out, but there is nothing in the material to draw the surfaces together.
