I’m not trying to embed a link – I don’t have an online storage for my pictures.
I want to upload a small image file to drybagsteak.com from my hard drive, and have it appear in my posting.
I’m browsing with Firefox.
I click the Browse… button to the right of “Select image file to attach”, select my picture, and click “Open”. I return to the editing page, and the box has the name of the file — but nothing has happened in the article.
And I don’t know what to do next. If I click the button that says [img] it actually inserts text into my article that says [img/] which, I think , means that this is the END of the embedding code.
Is something different supposed to happen when I select the image file or click the [img] button?
I tried logging in with IE, but all I got was “invalid token” – maybe because I’m already logged in using Firefox.
This is a common operation. I’m a little frustrated that the Help section explains how to do ordered lists, which NOBODY uses, and doesn’t say a thing about how to embed a picture.
On the other hand, most people seem to have no trouble embedding pictures. Any help would be appreciated.
Final word: go photobucket
December 10, 2011 at 5:40 pm #5173CharlieMemberI had the same problem and had to upload my pictures to photo bucket and then size them to 500kb or less. Then I was able to share from photo bucket. RRP was the one who advised me of this method.
I’m still not proficient at photo bucket. I used it ounce about two months ago, so it took awhile to figure out how to upload from there. I have to work today but tonight I will try to upload some more pics if I get back early enough.
December 10, 2011 at 5:48 pm #5174Ron PrattMemberPhotobucket is very easy to use for adding pictures here just cut and paste the option that is called the IMG Code. BTW that reduced size you selected is perfect not only for this forum, but most all forums on the net.
December 10, 2011 at 5:56 pm #5175Scott MarkMemberIf possible, I’d like to get it working where the pics don’t have to be stored elsewhere. I see lots of pictures in the forum that are stored on drybagsteak.com and I’d just as soon figure how to use the easier method than learn how to jump through more hoops. I had the same results using Internet Explorer: selecting a picture doesn’t seem to do anything.
December 10, 2011 at 6:05 pm #5176Ron PrattMemberDrybag forum is set up to accept pictures which are hosted elewhere such as on Photobucket. This forum does not store your pictures.
December 10, 2011 at 6:08 pm #5177CharlieMemberPhoto bucket is cool. You can get your pics from any computer and they are backed up. I look forward to getting all my pics on there. Just have to many things to do first.
Later I am running out the door!!!

December 10, 2011 at 6:20 pm #5178Scott MarkMemberIs that a change? What I mean is – when I hover the mouse over one of your pictures, I get a URL – for example, in posting # 699 I get the URL: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/Ronald44/Personal%20pixs%20to%20us/IMG_2064.jpg which is a picture of a paperclip.
But in article #1496, when I hover over the picture of meat, I get http://www.drybagsteak.com/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/drybag1.jpg
I’d say that drybagsteak.com is certainly storing SOME of the pictures.
And – why the “Browse” buttons for attaching images and files?
I could be as wrong as catsup on lobster, but I’m not giving up yet!
December 10, 2011 at 9:03 pm #5179CharlieMemberRon has a setting on his camera that he set to 500kb and therefore he can post pics. Any pic that is over 500 kb will not post to this forum as that is what limits are set by there program administrator. I usually take pics with a cell phone and almost all are above 500kb so I need to edit the file size in photo bucket and then copy and past img code to my messages
December 10, 2011 at 9:09 pm #5180CharlieMemberSince I use my phone for pics and it is an old without Internet service I need to move my pics to my computer, then to photo bucket, then to this forum. I am going to try using my I pad next to see if it saves me a few steps. When people upload to Facebook it’s a snap but I’m not sure what their file size limit is.

December 10, 2011 at 9:35 pm #5181Scott MarkMemberThe file I’m trying to post is 157 KB, so it’s not size that’s holding me back.
December 10, 2011 at 10:05 pm #5183CharlieMemberI just looked up the rules and 500kb was wrong.
Here is what it says;
Can I upload images to my posts? If so, what are the file recommendations?
DrybagSteak allows users to upload images to their posts. Images must be a .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, or .png, and may be up to 800×800 pixels in diameter and must be less than 150kb.
Your 7 kb over the limit.
You can see this and other info at the top of the screen under the Help tab.

December 10, 2011 at 10:17 pm #5184CharlieMemberSorry about the misinformati on the 500kb, but if you use photo bucket it will allow you to set the file size and after that you will be good to go.
I it took me awhile to use their site because I spent some time trying to edit my pics but if you just upload and resize so you can copy and paste you will see that it’s very easy.

The forum does let you upload images. It’s right below the message field when typing your post. I believe the max file size is 1mb (1024kb) and 1200×1200 pixels.
I’ve attached the image below for you to drool over
There’s also help text when posting right above the message field. Try rolling your mouse over the bold, italic, underline, etc to see the help text. It also tells you the file limits when hovering over the browse image field.
Hope this helps!
December 13, 2011 at 2:44 am #5201Ron PrattMemberThank you, Jeff! Your post reminds me of the Saturday matinees in my youth of when the Calvary came riding onto the screen!
(Bet you don’t have a clue what I said, LOL!!!)

I’m sorry to be so thick, but… read my first post. I SEE the controls you mention for attaching images, but I can’t figure out how to use them!
I see posts with multiple images, so something isn’t working. There must be a process where you click the Browse… button, then some stuff happens, and then you click the img button to the right of Browse…
But I can’t figure how to make it work.
I notice that the “Select file to attach” section is no longer present. Only “Select image file to attach” is there now.
I’ve selected a file. We’ll see if it becomes part of this reply.
